I get asked this question probably more than any other. Like most weight loss questions it can be answered in as little or as much detail as you want but by now you know I like to keep things simple but effective!
The answer will also depend on who you are, what your goals are and where you are currently at physically. But I will direct this answer at people who are just starting out, people who are overweight and who are looking to lose fat and weight quickly.
See the question in itself is a sign of our mentality — that we want the easy way out, something that will provide results quickly. We are looking for THE best workout programs possible to help us achieve our fat loss results – anything less just won’t do.
The sad thing is that it’s this exact mentality that makes the weight loss markets one of the biggest in the world because every few weeks there is a NEW BEST product and people jump ship from what they are on right now, even though they haven’t even given it time to work for them, to try the next best thing.
In fact this can become an addiction to some and they will literally always be on some new workout program rather than just sticking with one and waiting for the results that will come soon enough.
The best weight loss program for you is the one you are going to do day after day!
The one you will stick with long enough to give you the results you desperately want. See the real secret to the effectiveness of any weight loss program or diet is your commitment to it.
Doing the right thing on a regular basis is what is going to provide you with real results. Yes, of course you need to make sure your eating plan and workout program is good in the first place, but many of the ones you will find in shops and online are normally pretty good and provide all the information on workouts and eating that you will need.
But no matter how powerful the workout program or the eating plan, unless you stick to it, it won’t make any difference to your physical appearance.
Two guys.
One is on the world’s BEST workout program and eating plan.
But he only does it maybe twice a week or (if he can be bothered) 3 times at the most.
The other?
He’s just on a regular eating plan, getting plenty of healthy foods and being active for 30 minutes a day, but he does it every day.
Can you guess who will get the best results? (Hint: the BEST program in the world doesn’t mean much if you don’t do it often enough).
One more time: what is the best workout program for weight loss and getting ripped?
The answer?
The one that you will commit to and do on a regular basis.
So if you hate the gym but you like working out at home, THEN find a home workout program. If you hate working out in general but love mountain biking then go for a ride every day.
Of course if you want to take it a step up and start building muscle and achieve specific physical goals you need a program that will help you do that, but if you just want to drop a few pounds and become healthier, then find something you love doing and DO THAT on regular basis!

Hey Peter,
I’m in good shape for the summer but I just want to cut down a bit of fat. I downloaded your beachbody workout plan and I’m going to do it but, i have a couple questions
1. How often should i do those workouts? Every day? Every 2nd day?
2. Would doing it twice a day give me faster results or would that lead to over training ?
3. I will add a new exercise at the end of the circuit, a pullup, and different grips(i got the p90x chinup bar). Is that ok ?
4. What tempo should i aim for ? Nice and steady? Or explosive but not sacrificing any form?
You’re great!
Thanks,
David
Hi David,
See answers below.
1. How often should i do those workouts? Every day? Every 2nd day?
Try and do the weight training one day repeated by the cardio the other day. Do this 4 to 6 days in a row and then take a day off.
2. Would doing it twice a day give me faster results or would that lead to over training ?
Nope, if you do it once a day and give it a day rest that will work just fine. If you do want to do an extra workout each day make it an cardio workout.
3. I will add a new exercise at the end of the circuit, a pullup, and different grips(i got the p90x chinup bar). Is that ok ?
Sounds good!
4. What tempo should i aim for ? Nice and steady? Or explosive but not sacrificing any form?
Never lose form. But keep a good pace and go as hard as you can, but always keep good form.
Good luck!
Thanks for your answers. But I’m still not clear about something.
1. “Try and do the weight training one day repeated by the cardio the other day”
What do you mean by that? Isn’t the workout in the guide, HIT cardio for 15 minutes + right after the bodyweight circuit ?
Yip you can do it that way but I was just making a suggestion if you wanted to add an extra wokrout session and also if you wanted to train every day. If so I would do the weight training with the cardio one day and then the following day just the cardio.
Hi Peter,
I Am Doing All Your Workouts To Get Six Pack Abs. I Have A Four Pack, But i Cant Seem To Get A Six Pack, Mind Telling Me Some Lower Abs Workouts?
Oooh alright
So like, Monday do the full workout(cardio first then weight trianing). Then Tuesday just do the cardio part. Wednesday do the full workout again ?
Hey there just looking through your awesome site. Im a teen trying to get in shape. I really want to get rid of a lot of body fat by the end of the summer. So here is the workout ive planned:
1. 2 mile run everyday
2. some pushups and situps
Is there anything I could add to that? could you suggest some ab workouts or exercises for me? I don’t have any equipment (steps, medicine balls, weights, etc.)
Thanks,
T
Yip, but on the days that you JUST do cardio try and do around 20 to 30 minutes.
On Monday I am uploading a lower ab workout!
Thanks! And One More Thing Does it Matter If Ur 14 years old?
Yip, replace all your pushups and situps every day with this workout: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBZCFRKIC08

How many per week should it be perform? for a Beginner
oh yeah one more thing
the plan is cardio then weight training should be the same day or?
You can do it on the same day or split it up and one day do the cardio and one day the weight training.
Hello Peter,
Can I go for Jogging as cardio excercise ,if yes what is the duration.
sachin
Of course you can. Well it depends what you want to achieve with your cardio workout as to what intensity and for how long you should jog.
Thanks for response!! Peter. I want to follow your Six Pack Abs programme but I don’t have access to any of the cardio machines.. My age is 28, weight 80 kgs, height 173 cms not very fat but also don’t have those abs.. kindly suggest any cardio exercise without machine with workout plan.
Walking, jogging, Jumping Jacks, Cycling etc
hi peter I’ve been using your tips and it has really been helping me i have very defined muscles but i want to gain muscle mass / weight. i use a whey protein powder but i haven’t been gaining weight and i don’t like the idea of a cutting and building stage any tips?
Hi Bill,
The biggest mistake most people make when trying to add some muscle is that they don’t stimulate their muscles enough ( You don’t work them out enough so they feel they have to grow ) and they don’t eat enough. You must make sure you get enough protein and calories in so your muscle have the building blocks to work with so it will grow. Good luck!
By the Way
If i Can’t do repetition as much as the program (you) told me, can i do just the maximum count i can ?
Would it be a different result ?
Well just try and do better each week
Thanks peter.
there were still one question that i allready submit but still awaiting for moderation. If you can, answer it, i would appriciate it.

Peter.
A friend told me that once we hit the age 30, the muscle won’t grow like before 30. “It stop growing”.
I’m 32 now. I still wonder that can i really make my body just like you said ? From Zero to hero ? or perhaps it’s just a good day dreaming ?
If it can make my body transform, must i work harder than the other (the guy who has the age below me) to reach my goal ?
Sincerely yours.
Do you know how old most Pro Body Builders are? 30 to 35. Most Strong Man competitors 30 to 35. You can add muscle at any stage of your life but 32 is not a bad time at all. It is all about eating right and doing the right workouts. I am 31 one now and this year I am planning on adding a lot of muscle. So keep an eye on what I do during this year and I will proof to you that you can add muscle at any age.
I Will.
It’s week two now on your exercise program.
i’ll meet you at the finish, Peter.
Thank You.
See you there buddy! Make sure you take that before and after photo so we can show people how powerful SPF is!
