The 6 Best Cooking Techniques for Weight Loss

90% of the time the reason a meal or foods are unhealthy is because of the way it was cooked. Let’s face it; the chicken used to make KFC is not bad. It is normal chicken. But the way they cook and prepare that chicken by frying it and leaving the skin on ( so that the 11 secret Herbs and Spices have something to attach to ) is what really makes it a calorie bomb and super unhealthy. This goes for most fast foods and unfortunately also for much of the foods we cook at home. The reason is because it is normally faster, tastes better and it is the cooking techniques we learned from our parents.

The good news is that you can actually cook your food in very healthy ways that will also retain a lot of the taste. It is about combining healthy spices with healthy cooking techniques. Today I am going to focus on the cooking techniques and show you how you can easily cut out bucket loads of calories by just using the techniques below and so get into better shape much faster.

The 6 best healthy cooking techniques:

Steaming

This is one of the best methods of cooking. All vegetables and many meats can be steamed in a conventional steamer, microwave steamer, or in a bowl over simmering water. Your vegetables will retain the highest amount of vitamins, minerals, and flavors and won’t require the use of oil or salt in the preparation. Watch this video to see an easy steaming method I love using to cook fish

Poach

Poaching or boiling is when you immerse your food (usually chicken or fish) in a liquid such as water, stock or wine flavored with herbs and spices, and cook it slowly. Make sure you use enough liquid to cover all the ingredients you want to cook. One thing I love poaching is my eggs.

Grill/BBQ

We all love a good old BBQ and the good news is that grilling your food is a healthy method to cook meat, poultry, fish, and vegetables as it includes no fat or oil. BBQ also gives a nice taste to almost all foods.  A rack can also be used so that the fat drips away from the food as you will normally find with something like the George Foreman Grillers

Baking

Food can be baked in a covered pan or other cookware using a little liquid. This method can be used to prepare vegetables, sweet potatoes, fish, and chicken. I love making my own sweet potato chips by cutting thins slices of sweet potato and then baking it in the oven.

Stir-frying

Stir frying is an excellent way to cook vegetables, and can also used to cook chicken strips, beef strips, and shrimp. Use healthier types of oils to cook with like coconut oil instead of the normal greasy and unhealthy cooking oils.

Blanching

And lastly, blanching is one of my favorite ways to cook vegetables. Here are the basics of blanching. First, bring your water to a boil. Add your vegetables to the boiling water for a very short period of time, usually 3 to 4 minutes. Then, remove the vegetables and immediately pour cold water over them. Drain the vegetables and they are ready to eat. What I love about this method is that the vegetable retains its structure and even if you store it for a few days, it will still be nice and crunchy when you eat it.

And there you go. Six very simple yet healthy ways to cook you food in such a way that it will help you get results faster rather than move you further away from your goal with each meal you make.

Has that been removed and replaced with the six week abs workout challenge.

  3. peter says:

The Workout Club website was hacked. But it actually happend as we were thinking about moving and changing the workout club over to Thesixpackfactory and The6WeekSixPAck was actually a test to see if it will work if we bring The Workout Club to our main website and it was a huge success. So we are now setting up the Exercise Lab and then we are going to bring over the Workout Club in it’s new format to Sixpackfactory. Don’t worry, it is all so we can provide more and better workouts to you all.
