When Raechelle’s 3rd baby was 5 months old, she set her sights on competing in a figure competition to motivate her to get in top shape. Just 4 months later she reached her goal and Within 3 years of competing Raechelle has graced the covers of more than 10 International Fitness magazines covers such as Oxygen, Fitness life, Ultra Fit, Health & Fitness (South Africa) and NZ Fitness just to name a few! Not to mention countless editorials, interviews and fitness spreads. The potential in Raechelle quickly became obvious as she took the New Zealand Fitness World by storm. Not one to waste any time, she set off to California within a month of turning Pro and competed in The Sacramento Pro placing 10th in her first Pro Show in November 2009 in a lineup of 26 Pro Figure Competitors from around the world. One word to describe yourself?Impulsive How did you get into fitness/bodybuilding?Although I have been weight training for a long time, it wasn’t until my Youngest baby was 5 months old that I decided I needed to get into shape, with the goal being that I get into the best shape of my life, so naturally the next step was to pick a contest and compete. As they say the rest is history! |
What has been your biggest accomplishment in the fitness field? My biggest accomplishment so far would be shooting with fitness model icon Jamie Eason in San Diego earlier this year, and also shooting the cover for the US Edition of Oxygen magazine all in the last couple of months! What is your eating plan like?Off season my diet would look similar to this: #1 Oats, protein powder & peaches or strawberries |

What food can’t you go without?I have a very sweet tooth, its chocolate all the way. (When I’m allowed of course). What are your workouts like?I train 6 days per week split into one body part per day #1 Shoulders/Abs |
What is a typical daily routine for you? When I’m training for a competition I have a routine which I try to stay as close as possible to, however those of you with children know that even the best thought out plans don’t always come to pass when you have young children with other ideas in the home. My morning starts at 6am with 45 mins cardio followed by breakfast with the family. Carlos and Dior are in Daycare 3 x per week so on those days it’s pretty chaotic in the mornings trying to get everyone ready and in the car at the same time. One minute I think everyone’s ready, the next I see Dior walking around with no clothes because she says she ‘doesn’t want to wear clothes today’! Or we will all be in the car about to leave when Carlos say’s he ‘has to go to the toilet’! It’s pretty crazy and it often feels like it’s a struggle to fit my needs in around theirs. 3 days a week I can train and do cardio while they are in daycare, the other 4 days I try to fit it in when I can. |

What keeps you motivated to stay in shape? My children, I want them to be proud of their Mummy, and I want to keep up with them and their energy levels as they grow up. What is the most challenging thing you deal with about consistently staying in top shape?Juggling motherhood and competing is definitely the most challenging aspect about staying in shape at a Pro level. |
Famous fitness icon/bodybuilder you would most like to have coffee/protein shake with?A few months ago I would probably have said Jamie Eason, however now that that has been accomplished I guess I need to think about the next fitness icon I would like to have a coffee with…. Im not sure on the one yet. Body part on a guy you find most sexy? His eyes, like they say, the eyes are the gate way to the soul, and I like big guns! Although not a ‘body part’ I can’t leave out a good personality, I like a guy that can make me laugh till I cry. |

You own physical feature you are most proud of?Shoulders, I haven’t had to train these as hard as it looks like I have, fortunately allot of it is down to great genetics in this department.. What is the biggest fitness (weight loss, work out, diet) myth you encounter in the fitness industry every day?To be honest I can’t really think of an answer for this one, most people I deal with on a daily basis are into fitness so they all know it requires dedication, there are no short cuts or magic pills just hard work and perseverance. |
Your favorite six pack abs exercises/workout?Mountain climbers. There are several variations of this exercise and if you go straight into a plank position your abs will be burning up and begging for mercy. Connect with Raechelle

Hi :
Which one is better? Working one body part/muscle per day or all in the same day?
Wow, she makes me need Portable Oxygen! She takes my breath away. I want to know how I can get some personal training wit her!
Follow the links at the bottom of her interview for all any info on her and what she offers.
Depends what your goals are and where you are currently with your body. Both can work but once you get to a certain stage you will find it hard to work all your muscles in one day in order for them to be stimulated enough to grow. But if you are just starting out and maybe your main goal is weight loss then you could work all your muscles in one day and then give it a day rest.
Thanks for the oppotunity to be featured on your site, its a great site very informative and professional!!
Hi! I happened upon your webpage when i was on Google searching for some recent Twitter trends to find out what has been hot as of late. Once I wound up here I stuck about a bit to look over some posts… quality stuff. I’ll make sure to come back down the road some time and get caught up. Go Spain!! World Cup 2010!
Thank you Raechelle, it was great doing the interview!
It’s cool!
Just a quick hello there and also to say thanks for sharing your thinkings in this post. I mysteriously wound up here just after reading up on a lot of celeb fitness stuff over on Yahoo… guess I got sort of sidetracked! Well, I am off and thanks again for stating your opinions. I’ll be back again sometime to see your latest articles. See you later!
I always have a tendency to think a bit harder about all sorts of stuff soon after I read somebody new’s weblog and their remarks. I’m really thankful for the blog as well as how it’s changed the web in to a substantial collection of distributed thinkings. I ended up on here just after finishing up some stuff for work on Yahoo and somehow browsed on to your site. I’m happy that I stuck around and I am going to be sure to add this site to my news reader in order to read what you post in the future. Cheers!
Hey i just started working out..i have a great body i just want to work on my stomach to put it in shape, i have been doing reverse cruches etc. can i keep doing that and seeing results??… when was done i worked out for about 6 hrs and my stomach was already tight is that good??
WOW, working out for 6 hours! That is too much and not really necessary. But if you are looking to work your abs and really get them to build nicely then try my latest ab workouts where you focus on just working out one abdominal area at a time! Good luck!
