How to Get Six Pack Abs Without Doing Ab Exercises

Do you want a six pack? Do you want it more than any other change you could make to your body right now?

If so, the best way to go about getting one — paradoxically — might be to concentrate on other muscles.

I was originally going to call this article “Zen and the Art of Getting a Six Pack”, and that’s why — just like all that ancient wisdom has been yoked forward and adapted to modern stuff like dating and picking up women (“by not trying, and not trying to impress, you will thus impress”), it also works for building your six pack, too. Let’s see how.

Building Your Muscles Means Better Calorie Burning

When you’ve started out on the road to a ripped body, or built up a pretty good set of muscles already, you’ve turned your body into a more efficient machine than it was before.

This is almost common sense — just think of a car if you need a good metaphor. What’s going to process gas and conserve oil better: a rusty, creaky, badly-maintained piece of junk, or a brand new, optimized-to-hell sports car?

Sure, the sports car might use more oil (just like you’ll be eating more often as you work out more), but it will use it so much more efficiently and without all the waste that comes along with a badly-working machine.

Your body is the same way — put junk in it all day, and it gets worse and worse at processing that continued junk. Put good things in it, and build muscle instead of adding fat, and the beautiful “machine” we all have starts working at its peak.

And the only way you’re going to get your body to this level, all over? Is by working out everything instead of just focusing on your six pack.

More Muscles Means More Energy

Also, thanks to those muscles being such an efficient machine, they’re burning more energy — because they’re asking for more energy.

Last car metaphor, so bear with me: you need more fuel to maintain a Ferrari, because it’s so much more powerful. But when it gets that fuel, man — can it ever fly.

In the same way, when you build up your entire body into a lean, strong machine, you’re going to be full of energy. Those ripped arms and strong-ass shoulders aren’t just going to sit there, lazing around all day. Your body is going to demand you keep working it, and you’re going to love doing it.

Oh, and the six pack? Well — fat loss is way easier when you’re eternally motivated and high on natural energy. Not to mention that by working out other BIGGER muscle groups your body will need more FUEL ( sorry :) ) to burn then if you were just working on your abs, which is in reality a very small muscle group.

We All Have Six Pack Abs Already

What you must realize is that we all have six pack abs already. These muscles are there from the day we were born. You might not believe this but your abdominal muscles do have a function other than just looking good. But the reason most of us have never seen our abs is mainly due to our fat % being too high.

And here is where it all comes together. If you work on your bigger muscle groups you will burn more calories and so start losing fat quicker. And once you fat % gets down to around 6 or 7 % your abs will start showing through.

Compound Exercises Work Your Abs

Finally, the more you do some of the best exercises around, — like deadlifts and squats — the more you’ll be on the way to a six pack without actually thinking about one. You’re building up a whole bunch of muscles with those workouts, and you’ll be sweating so hard at the end of them that you won’t have to worry about the “spot reduction” myth, or about sitting there doing 400 crunches in the gym.

Not only will you be drained, in a good way, from those compound lifts, but you won’t need to crunch your spine over and over to see that six pack — you’ll be on your way to one already.
