I Drink Wheatgrass Every Day, Here is Why You Should Too!

I won’t say I LOVE Wheatgrass, but I do love the benefits it gives me. You have to get use to the tastes but after a while or even mixing it with some apple juice helps you get this wonder food down a bit easier. One of the main reasons I drink it is because it helps with alkalizing your body. If you are a meat eater like me then one of the side effects of all that meat is that it creates a lot of acid in your body and your body being too acid is one of the main reasons many illnesses happen. So if you can counter that a little bit then why not. It also has the extra benefit of helping you lose weight faster!

But Wheatgrass have SO much more going for it then just these two benefits. But rather me telling you about it, you can read below just some of the benefits and why you should also be thinking about starting to add this wonder food to your diet.

Info courtesy of Greenhealth: Wheatgrass, as the name suggests, is the grass of young wheat plants.  It is also a powerful health food supplement that is packed with highly concentrated vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll and enzymes.  Nutritionally, wheatgrass is a complete food that contains 98 of the 102 earth elements.

Wheatgrass and wheatgrass juice are excellent ways to get dark greens in the diet.  Pound for pound, wheatgrass is more than twenty times denser in nutrients than other choice vegetables.  Since it is considered a vegetable in the grass stage, wheatgrass is safe for people with wheat allergies.  Juicing unlocks even more nutrients from wheatgrass, making them more concentrated and usable to the cells of the body.

One of the ingredients with major benefit in wheatgrass is chlorophyll, which has the ability to draw toxins from the body like a magnet.  Considered the “blood of plants”, chlorophyll can soothe and heal tissues internally.  The chlorophyll in wheatgrass is high in oxygen and light energy, which can provide the brain and body tissues with an optimal environment in which to function.  The chlorophyll in wheatgrass also has antibacterial properties, which can stop the development of harmful bacteria in the body.

A major benefit of taking wheatgrass juice is that it is easily digested with little energy.  Wheatgrass provides crude chlorophyll from a living plant, which is the most effective way to gain the full therapeutic benefits of chlorophyll.  Just an ounce of wheatgrass juice per day provides a host of benefits, while a therapeutic program to treat a specific condition or illness may include two or three ounces.  It is a complete food with no side effects.  Many people grow their own organic wheatgrass and use juicers to make their own juice.

One Shot of Wheatgrass Juice

  • One ounce contains 103 vitamins, minerals and amino acids.
  • One ounce of wheatgrass juice represents as much nutritional value as approximately 2.5 pounds of fresh green vegetables.
  • Wheatgrass juice is high in chlorophyll.
  • It is very high in vitamins A, B-Complex, C, E and K.
  • Wheatgrass juice is a natural source of laetrile (B-17).
  • It contains beta-carotene, which is found in red, green and yellow pigmented fruits and vegetables.  Beta-carotene acts as a scavenger against harmful molecules flowing naturally through the body or through toxins inhaled from cigarette smoke, air pollution and other damaging sources.
  • Wheatgrass cleanses, purifies and feeds the body by activating the white blood cells, which boost the body’s immune system.
  • Wheatgrass juice is also beneficial for people who need to lose weight or cleanse their bodies.

Hey Peter should I drink this after or before I drink my Protein shake?

  3. Paul says:

It turns out that wheatgrass juice is up to 70% chlorophyll, which in chemical composition closely resembles haemoglobin. It is said to heal tissues, help purify the liver, improve blood sugar levels and help flush out accumulated toxins. That makes it an ideal ‘companion’ for fasting and in weight control regimes – taking it in tablet form gives some sensation of fullness’.

In “The American Journal of Surgery” (1940), Benjamin Cruskin, M.D., recommends chlorophyll for its antiseptic benefits. The article suggests the following clinical uses for chlorophyll: to clear up foul-smelling odors, neutralize strep infections, heal wounds, hasten skin grafting, cure chronic sinusitis, overcome ear inflammation and infections, reduce varicose veins and heal leg ulcers, eliminate impetigo and other scabby eruptions, heal rectal sores, successfully treat inflammation of the uterine cervix, get rid of parasitic vaginal infections, reduce typhoid fever, and cure advanced pyorrhea in many cases.

Chlorophyll is antibacterial and can be used inside and outside the body as a healer. Gargle with wheatgrass juice for a sore throat. Wheatgrass juice is great for constipation and keeping the bowels open.

I’ve had some of greenhealth’s stuff.
I can’t say it tastes like something willy wonka came up with but it’s really not bad.
It’s not particularly gross, it’s just bland and easy to get used to. At times I felt like I was eating freshly cut grass haha.
I’m sure there are ways to make it taste better too… maybe throw in some v8 or other vegetable cocktail thing that could flavour it?

Not some pills or pre made drinks. I am talkng about taking real growing wheatgrass and juicing it. Wheatgrass has been proven to all the things above and that is why I don’t drink many of the so called GREEN JUICES but just have this.

  12. peter says:

I drink this anytime during the day.

  13. peter says:

  14. Valerie says:

Can an expecting mother consume wheatgrass?

  15. matt says:

  20. Shashi Upadhyay says:

Going through this information rich article and readers comment I would say readers have more trust on Peter then Wheatgrass and also the readers have not much exposure to benefits of wheatgrass.

I thanks Peter to introducing his redears to Wheatgrass – Nature finest gift to mankind.

I have been growing, juicing and consuming wheatgrass in powder form in past last six years. I also been reading, exploring it for many years. though not a MD i can safely say :
Its 100% safe to consume if it is organically produced yourself or bought from a organic certified manufacture.
With all it Vitamins, Minerals, Active enzymes, Chlorophyll and rich fiber content ( if taken in powder form) it no doubt one of best Health supplement.
Though it is not prescribed by Doctors yet but lot of naturopathy and health enthusiast recommend it for decades for general health enhancement and fighting chronic illnesses.
It is not at expensive if you grow it itself as all it it needs is few pots, soil wheatgrass seed and organic fertilizer.
I consume it in powder form and it cost me less then 10 US $.
I have hosted a website ( http://www.addywheatgrass.com ) with detail on growing wheatgrass, it’s nutritional facts and benefits and care should be taken in buying it.
